Our final MOBB feature for December and just in time for the holidays. . .BOUTIQUE MIX. This online boutique is perfect for every budget, whether you're dead broke or Ballin'! The items here are like the Pier 1 commercials; you'll definitely find what speaks to you. It's quite an eclectic mixture of fun, fashionable, and affordable. MiMi is the proud owner of Boutique Mix online fashion boutique. Created in 2004, Boutique Mix is an upscale online fashion boutique providing unique and stylish apparel, jewelry, purses and fashion accessories from indie and mainstream fashion designers worldwide. What inspired you to create Boutique Mix and how did you get started? Boutique Mix was born out of my love for fashion, travel, diy-addiction and desire for a stylish side hustle. I started out with my Miatta-MiMi designs, which included handmade beaded jewelry and gift baskets. A year later, Boutique Mix grew to include fabulous indie and mainstream designers. As an accountant and attorney, Keep Reading

Tis’ the Season for Perfect Holiday Make-up

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, a single creature was stirring. She was looking for a blouse.  To match her fabulous make up and her beautiful natural hair. She was headed to a party and all would be there.  Whether she is rocking protective twist, lovely locs, or a high fashion TWA. The girl is sure to get a few heads to turn her way! Tis' the season for perfect make-up and we've got the looks to make the season bright(er). Nothing says it's that time of year like cinnamon reds, silver bells and Christmas tree green. The three looks below will show you exactly what we mean. ;)   Santa's not the only one who looks good hot in red. Nothing says in season and sexy like bright eyes and a red hot lip. Red a little intimidating? I'm sure you can pull it off. I know, Tori makes it look INCREDIBLY easy. Fabulous naturals really know how to rock a winter look don't we!       Be the belle of the ball at the Keep Reading

Fashion Forward or Rewind?

For the life of me, I cannot help but wonder why the vast majority of women I see who have embraced their au naturale hair (recenlty or otherwise) are suddenly direct replicas of the 1960s or whichever era those startling contrasted colors, patterns, and prints derived from. Its not that I am against the style per se' but I have a hard time identifying the individualism these women attempt to portray when they all look EXACTLY the same. It's kind of like some natural hair cult  filled with conformists sorority... wait, there is one of those now, right? o_O Recently, a startling number of women have decided to become natural - albeit for trend's sake or for the sake of dear mother Africa. To be honest, Im one of the natural newbies and although I embrace my kinky curlz, I am not suddenly keen on mix-matching plaids and flowers, ribbons and snakeskin, bright blue lipstick and metallic platform wedges. Contrary to popular belief, you dont BC and then suddenly have the abilitiy to time Keep Reading

We “AIM” to please

For this week's MOBB feature, Natural La Glam would like to introduce KLM Photography, a family owned, South Florida photography business. "Affordable Priced High Quality Photography" owned and operated by Alberto and Kelli Morales. Who started the business and when did it start? I (Kelli Morales) started the business in November of 2010. I guess you can say it is a start to a family owned business since my husband and I are doing it as a family. I have had an interest in photography all my life and did it as a hobby ever since I was about 18 years of age. So I have been into photography for about 10 years. It became more dear to my heart when I got married and started having kids because I loved to capture the family in everything we did together. When we moved to South Florida in August 2011 I decided to take the next step and turn my hobby of photography into a photography business. What do you love most about your business? The thing I love most is that I don't Keep Reading

Walking in a Glitter Wonderland

I don't know about anyone else but glitter has always been in style and season. Everything from glitter make up, nail polish, shirts, shoes, and my ultimate favorite, body glitter decorate my somewhat drab wardrobe. I even have the Mariah Carey movie, Glitter. . .not really. I just got a little excited. Yes, I realize they have glittery things every winter season but not quite like this one. Twenty eleven must definitely be my year because I see glitter, glitter everywhere. As I strolled through the mall, sequin, shimmers and glitters hit me from every angle. Ahhh I think I'm gonna go blind but I LOVE IT!!! Who ever is on your shopping list this year, I'm sure they'll love the shining finds for the season. I mean, as long as they love glitter. Here are a few that caught my eye. Sequin and shimmery shirts are really in this season. I can't tell you how many I counted at the Black Eyed Peas farewell concert. Especially the full front sequin ones.   Don't these remind Keep Reading

Sulfate or Not to Sulfate? That is the question.

What is sulfate and why is sulfate-free better? Wait is it even better? I wasn't sure and quite frankly I'm still not sure but I made a decision anyway based on several factors like my hair type and a bit of chemical research. From what I gathered, sulfates are what clean the hair. It's a chemical detergent that attract dirt and oil and basically what makes all that frothy lather when you shampoo. Now this might be very useful for someone who has a lot of dirt and oil in their hair. Based on my research, I would not recommend a sulfate containing shampoo for afro hair period, natural or relaxed. Either way (natural or relaxed) our hair is prone to dryness and we need to preserve as much oil and moisture as possible. This is especially true for me. I still have yet to find a solution to my problem of chronically dry hair/scalp but I did find that sulfate-free shampoo does help. One reason is that sulfate-free shampoos generally contain animal and vegetable oils that help seal in Keep Reading

Is that a S!ne Qua Non Original!

Why, yes it is! And she is Natural La Glam's first MOBB feature (Minority Owned Brands/Businesses). Ms. Brandi Cuff was born and raised in Miami, Florida. An Aries, Brandi is the eldest of nine siblings, a mother, and CEO of S!ne Qua Non Enterprise, Inc.  She'd always had big dreams of establishing an earring line, but after enrolling in a jewelry making class, Brandi was unsatisfied. She was determined to birth her own vision  of an “Original” pair of earrings that were sure to turn heads and create a buzz with its outlandish, original and eccentric style. Brandi soon discovered that her talents extended beyond earrings and with that, bracelets and necklaces became apart of S!ne Qua Non Enterprise line. S!ne Qua Non has been featured in several fashion shows. Including the “2011 Bijoux Choice Hair Fashion Show” in September 2011. Brandi's goal is to create a buzz that will have everyone asking the question… “Is that a S!ne Qua Non 0riginal?” Brandi is truly Keep Reading

Ten Fave’s for Natural Hair

There are so many websites, communities, blogs and posts about natural hair, it's hard to choose any number of favorites. We've decided that we'll choose 10 to start. These are in no particular order and we hope you find them as interesting and informative as we did. More to come soon. . .To kick off the list, let us introduce you to. . .
